Erica Fairhurst

Erica Fairhurst (b. 1980) has recently rediscovered her love of painting. She studied art for A-level, and discovered that she had a bold painterly style. While the next four years were spent studying Italian at Bristol University, dividing her time between Italy and the UK, she kept up drawing and figurative painting as a hobby. More recently she began art classes with local artist and teacher, Leonora Phelan, renewing her passion for painting.

Erica's landscapes are reflective of her love of the sea and the Dorset countryside, where she grew up and now lives with her husband and two children. There is a mixture of fondness and nostalgia in these locations that have punctuated events throughout her life. The still lives are familiar and calming, inspired by her domestic surroundings, and reflect her world today.
